Following the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds United supporters are energised by faith that their club will complete several stellar signings over the course of upcoming weeks. Given their manager’s status and influence, they could persuade several talented players to make the switch to Elland Road. Wout Weghorst could be the first of many for the Whites.

As Leeds Live reports, Weghorst has been linked with a potential move to Leeds United. Over the previous two seasons, the 25-year-old has proven himself as one of the most proficient forwards in Europe. A consistent goalscorer is integral for any team who flaunt promotion aspirations, and the Dutch forward could prove to be a terrific signing for the Whites.

Leeds had only managed to score 59 goals in 46 games in the Championship last season, an area that requires notable improvement. Weghorst scored a sensational total of 27 goals in 37 games in all competitions for AZ Alkmaar last term. In fact, he has averaged more than one goal every two appearances for the Dutch club, since joining them in 2016, he has attained a total of 45 goals in 86 games for the Eredivisie side.

A player of his calibre could be an exceedingly useful option for Leeds. At 6ft6, the striker is a commanding presence on the field, who displays a tremendous ability to retain possession of the ball. Given his height and his stature, he possesses terrific heading ability, and his finishing is particularly strong.

While Leeds may have to invest substantially to secure his services – Sevilla are also rumoured to be interested in the striker – he appears to be a splendid striker, who would be of exceeding use to Bielsa’s side.
