The season of 2018/19 was a good one for Academy graduate Jamie Shackleton and despite the disappointing nature of the end to the year with our promotion failure, the 19-year-old has another reason to reflect fondly on his growth as he’s just been called into the England Under 20 setup.
Although he’d have no doubt liked slightly more starts this year, he did make seven under manager Marcelo Bielsa, along with 17 appearances off the bench and he chipped in with two assists.
With the Elland Road faithful expecting a big year and further progress from the lad in 2019/20, he’ll certainly take the confidence shot from his maiden international call up this month.
🏴 | Well done to @jamieshackk who gets his first international call up, as the @England U20s look to retain the @TournoiMRevello title

Fans (and teammates) were naturally delighted by the news when the club confirmed it and it’ll no doubt be the first cap of many more to come before he progresses through to the Under 21 setup and then who knows – the future is in his hands.
Deserved.

Ridiculously late call up. Hard to believe that there are better players than you at that level for your position. Absolute class you are Jamie ????
