Saturday’s clash at Elland Road between Leeds United and Fulham turned into an absolute humdinger of a game, with an empty stadium treated to another seven goal thriller – but this time we were on the right end of it.

Helder Costa had us in front five minutes into the tie before two incredibly soft penalties saw Fulham equalise, before we then retook the lead through Mats Klich’s spot-kick. Manager Marcelo Bielsa saw his side put their foot down early in the second half as we went 4-1 in front with Patrick Bamford netting, and Helder Costa completing his break but then it went a little bit wrong.

The visitors quickly found two goals of their own to make it 4-3 and set up a nervous final 20 minutes, but we held out to take the victory and Bielsa’s boys are up and running for 2020/21.

Statistics website Whoscored gave their star man award to Bamford with a player rating of 8.57.

Completing the top five in their system was Helder Costa (8.20), Kalvin Phillips (7.20), Stuart Dallas (7.18) and Mats Klich (7.16).

For overall game involvement, I think most fans would probably edge Helder Costa here.
